We Can Write

We read the big book 'I Can Write'
by Fiona Lovett Davis with photos by Dean Zillwood.

The book shows children having fun with different ways of
writing at home and at school.
We brainstormed lots of different ways that we could write.
Can you read what we wrote using our hats, our shoes and our bodies?

It says....
Hi from
Room
3
On Friday we went outside to write letters and numbers with chalk and water.
We were learning to write and form our letters and numbers correctly.
We could paint over the letters and numbers with water and practise writing our own.
Then we had a turn with the chalk.
Can you see how good we are at forming our letters and numbers?

Zana's Hammerhead Shark News

Zana caught this hammerhead shark all by herself while fishing on her family's boat near Maraetai Beach in the weekend. She brought it in for news because she thought the children would really like to see a real hammerhead shark not just a photo.
Some of the children were brave enough to touch the shark... eeww it was slimy when you rubbed it one way and prickly when you rubbed it back the other way!
Oh and it was a bit smelly!
Did you notice that it’s eyes are on the side of its head? Freaky!!
Check out the photos!
This shark's unusual name, hammerhead, comes from the unusual shape of its head.  A hammerhead shark uses its wide head to trap stingrays by pinning them to the seafloor. The shark's eye placement, on each end of its very wide head, allows it to scan more area more quickly than other sharks can.

Meet the New Room 3

Yesterday afternoon we used Daisy the COW - Daisy has 10 laptops.
Mrs Laburn and Rohan used the interactive board to show the class how to type weeworld.com into the address bar. Rohan had so much fun experimenting and following Mrs Laburn's instructions to show us how to make an avatar of himself.
Then .....
Mrs Laburn told us that she thought we would be clever enough to make our own avatars.
We all shouted out Yay! and Yes! and Awesome! and Cool! It was very noisy!
Mrs Laburn thinks that her class of 5 year olds are fabulous at following instructions, listening, watching and collaborating with each other.
Check us out, we think we look awesome!
