On Wednesday Room 3 went to Ambury Farm by bus. Then we went to a room that smelt bad. We didn't sit on the floor, we got to sit on mats. Next we went to the milking shed and a lady told us all about cows. She got a cow and her name was Rosie and she tickled the cow. She rubbed Rosie and put the milking cup over the cows teat on her udder. It sucked the udder. The cow stomped her feet and the milk came out. After that we went to the shearing shed. Another lady had to shear the sheep's bottom. She said that flies eat poo. If the flies lay eggs and the baby fly hatches then the baby flies will eat the sheep's skin and the sheep will die. She made the sheep stand up and then the sheep went down the shoot to the other sheep. We went to lamb feeding and patted a horse and then to chicken feeding. The goat tickled me when I fed him. I liked feeding the goat.

Pooey! Ambury Farm is stinky. BUT..... there are cute animals and there are also baby lambs and I took so many photos of animals. We went to see the cows. One cow was doing poos. My best part was that Steven got poo on his hands.

Room 3 went to Ambury Farm. There was a big cow. Don't step on me! It was very big. I don't want to get squashed! Then we saw the sheep getting shorn and then we went for a little walk. We fed lots of animals. First we met a sheep and then we met a horse called Belle-Donna. She was very big because she is a clydesdale horse. They pull big things. I took a photo of the horse. Next we saw a goat and we gave him some food. Next we met a turkey called 'Timmy the Turkey'. We all got to look at the pig called 'Charlotte the Pig'. Then we fed the cute little lambs. There were 13 lambs. After we saw bulls. Then we saw some rabbits and we saw the lambs again and we patted them. My favourite part was the cute lambs.

We are learning about dairy cows and their job on the farm.
Click here to go to the dairy cow game - www.operationdairy.com
We found this game very useful today. It helped us to answer some of our inquiry learning questions. Have fun while learning!

Ambury Farm Trip - 11th August
As this an ARC park we are asked to have ‘litterless lunches.’
Children need to wear old clothes. They must have closed in footwear. Gumboots would be ideal if children
have them but not essential.
If the weather is not too wet children will be walking
around the farm so we advise a warm jacket preferably shower-proof.
Please complete the permission slip if you have not already done so.

Litter-less lunchboxes
Room 3 children are trying to have litter-less lunchboxes to have less rubbish at school and to help our environment by having less rubbish sent to the dump. A waste free litter-less lunchbox contains no throwaway packaging.
Tips for having a litter-less lunchbox
- Limit the use of all paper, plastic wrap and tin foil.
- Pack food in reusable containers.
- Pack reusable cutlery instead of disposable cutlery.
- Use a refillable drink bottle instead of drink boxes.
- Use a cloth napkin instead of paper.
- Foods such as vegetable and fruit require little or no packaging.
- Involve children when preparing lunches as a child is more likely to eat and not waste lunch they helped to pack.
- Take chips, biscuits and other snacks out of the packing and put it in a reusable container.

Wacky Hair and Hat Day
On Friday our school had wacky hair and hat day. Some of the children in our class were very, very creative. Balroz put dinosaurs all over his hat, Piper had a fan, feathers and pipecleaners on hers, Nicholas had animals and a feather on his hat, Sophie and Hayley spray painted their hair, Jonathan, Flynn, Kavin, Lucia-Belle and Felix had hair ties and pegs in their hair, Meah, Lauryn and Ethan had funky wigs, Malin, Bruhathi, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Christine and Kimberly had unusual hair styles, Steven was a wizard, and Duraiz made a funky hat. It was lots of fun and we saw some amazing creations around the school. Check out our school website for more photos.

The Dragon Play
The Giraffes reading group - George the Dragon, Ethan the King, Moh the Frog, Christine the Princess and Balroz - Sir Tim presented a play called 'The Dragon' at Junior Assembly. Lucia-Belle introduced the group explaining that their learning intention was to read with expression. All of Room 3 agreed that the Giraffes achieved their success criteria because they used different voices to make the play interesting for others to listen to. Well done Giraffes you were amazing!

Inquiry Learning about Orangutans
Mrs Munro came back to Room 3 this term to teach us about orangutans through inquiry learning. First she read us a story about a little orangutan baby. Next we had to write down a question about something we wanted to learn about orangutans. On the next day we learnt about key words, contents pages and index's. We had lots of books to help us to find information that would help to answer our questions. We worked in threes and wrote some of the information that we found on our sheets. On the next day we went onto 'Key Note' to start our own slideshows. We had to make a cover page and then find a picture on google that went with our story. After that we typed up our information. We learnt a lot about orangutans. Thank you Mrs Munro.

Clifford the Big Red Dog Visited Point View School
The day Clifford the Big Red Dog visited Point View School the paparazzi just
couldn't stay away! Clifford took no time at all to overcome his shyness and amazingly posed for the media at every opportunity.
The Big Red Dog caused hysteria the moment he entered classrooms. When he bounced into Room 3 he was greeted by 27 noisy, cheering young fans causing a crowd surge. Thankfully he was quickly surrounded by security who keep a watchful eye on him. A book reading session enticed his fans to quieten down. After which, he signed autographs and once again happily posed for photographs.

The Museum Trip
The Museum Trip
I went in the bus and it was fun. Then I went inside the museum to have a look. First at the museum I saw a dinosaur fossil bone. Next I saw a tree and I went around the tree and I went inside the tree and I climbed up the ladder and I saw a monkey inside the tree. Then I walked around the museum. After that I went inside the blue section. What was inside there? There was a shark inside there and there were fish too. Then I saw a soldier. I saw a volcano. Then I went to the bus. The bus took me back to school. I like the museum because it is cool but not beautiful. Why? Because is supposed to be cool because it is big and lots of fun.
By Denny Yr1
First we went to the bus and we screamed all the way till Mrs Laburn said stop talking so loud because she was going to get a headache. Then we got to the museum. Then we went to Paul’s room to find out about fossils. I liked the T-Rex the best.

What is a fossil?
It is a type of remains. A dinosaur lived millions and millions of years ago and they are really old. There are many types of fossils. Plant fossils, animal fossils and trace fossils.
