Room 3's Movie - Out and about around our school

Room 3 decided to make a video for our Quadblogging friends.

It is a wonderful tour around our school.

We used the ipods to video each other.

We had to make sure we didn't put our finger over the view finder and

we had to make sure we kept the ipod as still as we could and

we had to make sure when we filmed moving around that we didn't

move the ipod too fast.

We also had to think carefully about what we would say to make it interesting

for others to listen to.

Phonics Phones

Room 3 was really lucky enough to have one of our parents donate 25 "phonics phones".Thanks Darren.Phonics phones are PVC piping that acts like a telephone.Room 3 use them during SSR, reading group time and writing time.The children do not need to speak loudly but can hear themselves clearly while speaking.The phonics phones are particularly wonderful during writing time as the children can hear themselvessounding out tricky words that they are attempting to phonetically sound and spell.The sounds are more prominent and accentuated enabling the children to more easily spell words as they sound.During reading time a group can go off (in the secret garden or other secret space) and read into a phonics phone,hear themselves clearly and at the same time not disturb others working.The phonics phone also improves their focus and ability to stay on task.

Our friends from Stoke Bishop Primary made this Voice Thread to share information about themselves and their classroom.

Maori names for pet stick Insects

Stoke Bishop Primary asked us to come up
with some names for their pet stick insects.
First we watched some Youtube clips about
stick insects so we had some prior knowledge.


We decided to choose Maori because we are New Zealanders 
Maori is one of our National languages.

Voice Thread for Stoke Bishop Primary Year 1

Within our four schools we have a partnership that means that for a four week cycle, each school’s blog would be the focus for one week out of four. Each school in the Quad will spend some time visiting the blog of the school for that week, leave comments etc. After that week, another one of the four schools would be the focus and this would be repeated for the four week cycle and then repeated. 
This will give each blog a boost in visitor numbers and comments.

Flag Face Painting for RWC 2011

Room 3 are showing our support for the RWC

We used Flag Face on Mrs Laburn's iphone to create some of the RWC 2011 countries flags on our faces.

The application didn't have all the countries flags

so the remainder of us are the NZ supporters.

Timo Tagaloa visits Point View School

Timo Tagaloa competed for Manu Samoa in the 1991 Rugby World Cup and the New Zealand XV team, 
ranked just below the All Blacks. 

He has also played rugby for the New Zealand Sevens 
and NPC. 

Timo visited Point View School on Tuesday 6th September for the whole day! 

His visit certainly helped us to move further into the 
Rugby World Cup spirit. 

At assembly he showed us some of his rugby shirts 
and performed the mighty haka. 

It was amazing!

Then he went out onto the field and taught some lucky students some of his rugby skills.

At lunchtime lots of us collected his autograph.

Thanks Timo it was a great day!
